President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump plan to vote early in person in Florida on Saturday ahead of the midterm elections, a White House official told CBS News. They are due to cast their ballots in Palm Beach County, where Trump is registered to vote. Trump confirmed the plan to reporters on Friday, according to The Hill.
Florida's early voting period opens on Saturday and runs through Halloween, Oct. 31. The midterms take place on Nov. 3, with all seats in the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate at stake.
The move stands out because Trump has voted by mail in recent elections, CBS reported, even though he has repeatedly criticized widespread mail-in voting. On the campaign trail this week he also said he prefers to vote on Election Day. Trump did not say what he plans to do on Nov. 3. He campaigned in South Carolina and Iowa this week and in Fort Myers, Florida, on Friday.
