Munich-based robotics company Agile Robots and chipmaker Nvidia have presented the Agile ONE SN reference humanoid at the GTC Berlin developer conference. According to Nvidia, the robot is 1.40 metres tall, weighs 40 kilograms and has 31 degrees of freedom; each arm carries up to three kilograms. Its two WUJI Hand 2 five-fingered hands each have 20 degrees of freedom and tactile sensing. It runs on an Nvidia Jetson Thor module, with Nvidia's Isaac GR00T as its AI foundation model.
The humanoid is aimed mainly at research and development and is due to be available in early 2027; Nvidia says Stanford University and ETH Zurich have shown interest. Agile Robots founder and CEO Zhaopeng Chen spoke of "one adaptable machine that learns many skills". According to Crypto Briefing, the company, founded in 2018 as a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center, aims to build between 1,000 and 2,000 humanoids in 2027.
At the same time Nvidia released version 3.0 of its open-source training framework Isaac Lab and made more than 2,000 simulation-ready assets available on Hugging Face. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the "ChatGPT moment" for robotics was fast approaching. The video shows his Berlin keynote.
