The Ligue 1 showdown between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyon has been moved. The Paris police prefecture banned the game from going ahead Sunday night. The French league (LFP) then rescheduled it, in agreement with broadcaster Ligue 1+, for Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30 p.m. local time at the Parc des Princes.
The LFP said it took note of the prefecture's order, and PSG also confirmed the new date. According to Foot Mercato, the decision was driven by security concerns: Authorities expect more protests this weekend after violence and looting the previous weekend. An NFL game is also being played at the Stade de France on Sunday.
PSG supporters are calling on social media for a boycott of the Monday game, Foot Mercato reported. No organized fan group was named.
