Taika Waititi will not be making his 'Star Wars' film for now. Speaking to Inverse, the director said, according to The Playlist: "I hate to break this to you, but we're going to actually put it on ice and we're working on a different thing together." He added: "It's very iced. I've got about four other movies I'm trying to do."
He is not ruling the project out entirely: "Ice ages do come to an end. Who knows?" Waititi's involvement in a 'Star Wars' feature was announced in 2020. Then-outgoing Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in January that he had delivered a screenplay and praised it.
According to The Playlist, Waititi is now working with screenwriter Tony McNamara ('The Favourite', 'Poor Things') on a new, untitled project. He made the remarks while promoting his new film 'Klara and the Sun', based on Kazuo Ishiguro's novel.
