Berlin police arrested a suspected burglar in Britz, part of the Neukoelln borough. The 30-year-old suspect allegedly tried to enter a raised ground-floor apartment through a patio door at about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, police said Monday. When the tenant noticed him, he fled, according to police.
Shortly afterward, the man allegedly tried the same thing at another apartment on the same street. Police said he got inside but was allegedly surprised by the 79-year-old resident and fled again. Both women called police independently.
Officers detained the suspect nearby. Detectives from the police’s southern division have taken over the investigation. Police did not say whether anything was stolen.
