On Wang’s first visit to Sofia in 11 years, Prime Minister Rumen Radev presented Bulgaria to Wang Yi as Europe’s gateway for transport, energy and digital links. After one-on-one talks and a delegation-level meeting, Radev named electric vehicles, energy, agriculture and high technology as sectors with strong potential and urged joint projects beyond trade. “We are looking forward to practical results following your visit,” Radev said, according to BTA.
Wang said China wants to be a reliable and responsible partner in Bulgaria’s modernization and praised Radev’s strategic vision. He recalled Radev’s 2019 trip to China as president, when the two countries announced a strategic partnership. BTA and BNT did not report any agreements being signed.
President Iliana Iotova then received Wang. Both agreed that ending the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East requires active diplomacy. Iotova proposed a direct Sofia–Beijing flight, and Bulgaria hopes for easier access to the Chinese market for its farm products. Wang was due to hold talks with Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova in the afternoon.
