Bulgarian-born designer Kiko Kostadinov is releasing the “VAALS” shoe with Crocs on 20 October, according to sneaker outlets Sole Retriever and Just Fresh Kicks; the latter notes that the details have not yet been officially confirmed. The leather and mesh shoe has an oblong toe and saddle stitching and a moulded band referencing the archival Crocs Genna. A black and an olive “Kelp” version are planned for launch; the model was first shown on the Paris runway.
For Kostadinov, born in Bulgaria in 1989 and a graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, footwear collaborations are a fixture of his work: he has partnered with Asics since his spring/summer 2018 collection. According to Sole Retriever, he is pausing that work for the Crocs model. The campaign was shot by American artist Jim Mangan near Crocs' headquarters in Boulder, Colorado.
The label's womenswear line, designed since 2018 by Laura and Deanna Fanning, showed its spring/summer 2027 collection during Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by artist Nanda Vigo and her work with light, time and space, models walked a dark runway lit only by shafts of light – in a crimson double-breasted coat, chevron skirts with jagged hems and dresses in cobalt and teal.
