Ahead of Saturday's welterweight main event at UFC Edmonton, Mike Malott and Joaquin Buckley traded barbs at Wednesday's media day. Malott (14-2-1), regarded as a face of Canadian MMA, said of headlining at home: "This is my show." He added: "I can't see him main eventing in Canada without me."
Buckley (21-8), who had been quiet in the build-up, responded later in the day: "Mike Malott, it's just a true story, don't nobody know you, fam." The Canadian wants to become the headliner through him, he said: "You're trying to become the A-side." It is Buckley's third UFC main event, though he comes off losses to Sean Brady and Kamaru Usman.
Malott said he is well prepared: "This one I mean it, man. This was such a good training camp." In the co-main event at Rogers Place, Erin Blanchfield faces Malott's teammate Jasmine Jasudavicius.
