The BFI London Film Festival is celebrating its 70th edition this year (7 to 18 October) – and the red carpet shows where evening dressing is heading: more volume, more accessories, more theatre. At the opening gala screening of Elsinore at the Southbank Centre on 7 October, Billie Piper wore, according to the Evening Standard, a strapless black-and-white floral gown with a gathered silhouette and sweeping train, paired with long black opera gloves and pointed ankle boots. Olivia Colman chose a floor-length, high-necked gown with billowing sleeves and a black bodice.
Among the men, lead actor Andrew Scott stood out: according to the blog Red Carpet Fashion Awards, he wore a brown double-breasted Celine jacket with black trousers, a patterned tie and a floral brooch. Joe Locke arrived in a black double-breasted suit from Hermès's Fall 2026 collection, with a Cartier Tortue watch and a Cartier pin.
Two days later, on 9 October, Florence Pugh attended the world premiere of In the Shadows at the Vue West End in a corset gown from Jackson Wiederhoeft's Spring 2027 collection: according to theFashionSpot, a lavender silk-satin corset with crystal and bead embroidery over a slim, shimmering silver skirt. According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, the originally strapless design was modified to accommodate a Bulgari diamond necklace. Pugh was styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
