The Golden State Warriors turned a 25-point deficit into a comfortable win over the Los Angeles Lakers in an NBA Cup group game. On Friday night in San Francisco the team won 112-95. The Lakers had led 38-15 after the first quarter, with Luka Dončić already on 21 points and five threes. According to AP, the Warriors then took the second quarter 38-15.
Stephen Curry led his team with 31 points, six assists and four rebounds. According to AP, that moved him past Dominique Wilkins (26,668 points) into 18th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Brandin Podziemski added 21 points, while De'Anthony Melton (16) and Georges Niang (11) contributed off the bench. Dončić finished with 37 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
AP says it is the largest margin of victory in the shot-clock era for a team trailing by 20 or more points after the first quarter. Warriors coach Steve Kerr told ESPN: "25, you know, it's the new 12." After an 0-3 start, Golden State is now 3-3 and hosts the LA Clippers on Sunday, when the Lakers face Toronto.
