Yemen's Houthis claim to have carried out six military operations against airports and oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. They named the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries and the international airports in Riyadh and Dammam as targets, Al Jazeera reported on Friday morning. There was no immediate Saudi confirmation of strikes on those sites. The Houthi claims cannot be independently verified.

On Thursday, the Saudi-led coalition said it had destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis towards the kingdom's eastern region. Al Jazeera summed up the day under the headline "Houthis target Riyadh as coalition intercepts missiles". Civil defence alerts for Najran and the Eastern Province were later lifted.

The attacks come in the eighth month of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Regional mediators are trying to broker an end to the conflict, while US officials are preparing allies for possible renewed strikes on Iran after the US midterm elections on Nov. 3.
