1. FC Nürnberg will be without their leading goalscorer for the rest of the first half of the season. The club said on Monday that striker Mohamed Ali Zoma needs surgery on his shoulder. The 22-year-old dislocated his shoulder in Friday's 1-1 draw at Energie Cottbus and was substituted after 33 minutes. Examinations showed that an operation is necessary; it is due to take place soon.

According to the club, Zoma will be out at least until the winter break. It is a heavy blow for the Franconians: with seven goals in the first eight matchdays, he is the top scorer for the side currently second in the 2. Bundesliga.

"Momo has our full support in this necessary step," said sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou (translated from German). He is also counting on the rest of the squad: "We have quality in the squad and good lads who can now show even more of themselves." Head coach Miroslav Klose now has to find a new solution up front.
