Manchester City will be without Antoine Semenyo for weeks. Speaking at Monday's press conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match against AEK Athens, head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that the forward is expected to be out for around eight weeks. "It could be eight weeks," the Italian said.

According to Maresca, Semenyo picked up the injury in the 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at the weekend after coming on for Jérémy Doku in the 77th minute. The coach said the news was better than feared: "In the first moment, we expected an even worse injury." He expects the player back around December.

The absence comes during a successful run for City: Maresca is the first manager in Premier League history to win his first seven league games in charge, and the club lead the table by three points from Arsenal. Semenyo is now likely to miss several league games as well as City's next matches in the Champions League.
