Zara Larsson released the official music video for 'Blue Moon' on 15 October. The song is taken from her fifth album 'Midnight Sun'; according to Pop Scoop, Larsson calls it the 'sister' to the title track. She previewed the video in September at her second sold-out show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
The video was directed by Charlotte Rutherford. Pop Scoop calls it a 'surreal new music video': it opens with Larsson alone in an empty car park at dusk and shifts into a colourful dream world with fantastical creatures and energetic choreography as night falls.
On Instagram, Larsson wrote, according to Hello Rayo, that the video was important to her and that she had dreamed of it since the album came out. 'This is a manifestation project,' the singer said. She admitted that 'Blue Moon' was not (yet) taking off on streaming, in sales or on TikTok – but said she believed in the song so much that the world would love it just as much. Larsson is currently touring Australia, followed by the Philippines and Thailand.
