Rockstar Games expects its next big game to take far less time than Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar leads Phil Hooker and Aaron Garbut said so in a major Bloomberg feature on the making of GTA 6, as reported by VGC and Push Square. “The engine, the tools and the team we’ve built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly,” Hooker said.
Garbut said a great deal had been fundamentally changed for GTA 6: “But now it’s done, and we’re not going to rip it apart.” Hooker said he was confident the studio could build on this and go “more sideways than upwards”. Neither named a specific project or timeframe.
Rockstar’s last major new single-player game was Red Dead Redemption 2 in October 2018. GTA 6 is due on 19 November. Rockstar has not yet confirmed a PC version.
