UEFA has sanctioned Serbia over racist and discriminatory behaviour by its supporters during Nations League defeats to Greece and the Netherlands, both 2-1. According to German news agency dpa, the Serbian federation was fined 50,000 euros, plus almost 80,000 euros for other fan misconduct, and ordered its next home match closed to fans; a one-match away ticket ban was suspended for two years.
As things stand, no fans will be admitted for Serbia's home match against Germany on Nov. 13 at Red Star Belgrade's stadium, which normally holds about 55,000. The Serbian federation wants to try to have the ruling softened so that children and 2,000 German supporters could attend. UEFA said there were no concrete plans yet.
Jurgen Klopp's Germany are third in the group on five points, behind the Netherlands and Greece on eight each, with Serbia bottom without a point. Only the top two reach the quarter-finals in March 2027. Germany won the reverse fixture 2-0 in Munich on Oct. 1 and close the group against the Netherlands in Berlin on Nov. 16.
