Fish eyes and fins: Janelle Monáe turns up as “Phish Boy” at her Halloween party
At her “Wondaween” bash in Los Angeles Janelle Monáe was barely recognisable: as a fish creature of her own invention she wore prosthetics on her face and hands – plus a vest, trousers and a red tie.

Janelle Monáe held her annual Halloween celebration “Wondaween” on Thursday, this year themed “Creature Carnival”. According to Billboard she appeared as “Phish Boy”, an original creature that is part human, part fish. A photo caption places the event at Santa Monica Pier.
The costume featured bulging eyes and hyperrealistic fins, created with special-effects make-up and prosthetics on her face and hands, Billboard reported. Monáe paired it with a striped vest, matching trousers and a red tie. She shared photos and a video on Instagram on Friday, crediting her team.
According to TheGrio, Monáe also appeared as the fish creature on the Halloween episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” the same day, with Hudson dressed as a butterfly. Before the party she had promoted “Wondaween” as a green-faced ghoul.
