A police officer was injured with a knife during a call-out in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg district overnight into Saturday. According to Berlin police, officers were assisting the fire service with a medical transport on Landsberger Allee shortly after midnight. A 27-year-old woman was to be taken to a clinic but repeatedly refused.
When officers moved to detain her, the woman drew a knife and made several stabbing motions toward one officer, police said. He was hit in the arm, treated at the scene and then as an outpatient in hospital, and went off duty. The woman was taken to a clinic and the knife was seized.
A specialist unit of Police Directorate 1 (North) is investigating on suspicion of resisting law enforcement officers and dangerous bodily harm. The suspect is presumed innocent.
