Fiorentina's home game against Atalanta (20:45 CET) closes Serie A's midweek round on Thursday night, after Frosinone host Lecce from 18:30. Fiorentina have lost their last three matches, most recently at Inter Milan, and coach Paolo Vanoli did not speak publicly on the eve of the match.
Fans in the Curva Fiesole called for support but also warned the players: "A hundred years of history deserve respect, bite and people who leave the pitch out of breath," their statement said, urging supporters to turn the Artemio Franchi into "hell" on Thursday. Vanoli is without defender Nikola Pongracic, who injured a hamstring against Inter, and Luca Ranieri is unlikely to be available with a foot problem.
Maurizio Sarri's Atalanta were held 4-4 by Frosinone in their last match. Kamaldeen Sulemana is in the squad for the first time this season after two and a half months out with a knee injury sustained in an August 8 friendly at Schalke 04, and Giorgio Scalvini is also back. Isak Hien, Franck Kessie, Gianluca Scamacca and Giacomo Raspadori are among those missing.
