Jan-Lennard Struff narrowly fell short in the final of the ATP event in Brussels. The German took the first set against Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor on Sunday but lost 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 after two hours and two minutes. According to the ATP Tour, the decisive moment came at 4-4 in the third set, when Griekspoor broke Struff's serve. Griekspoor hit 19 aces and won 84 per cent of his first-serve points; Struff served 17 aces.
For 30-year-old Griekspoor it is a fourth ATP Tour title and his first since Mallorca in June 2025. He came from a set down for the third match in a row and improved his head-to-head record against Struff to 4-0. "I don't know how it went my way," he said.
Struff, who had beaten top seed Arthur Fils in the semi-finals, was playing his first hard-court final and his first final since his 2024 title in Munich. In the new rankings he climbs eleven places to No. 47.
