Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) published a video about its SolarBEAT research project on 21 October. On the roof of the university's Vertigo building, Roel Loonen and his team are studying how buildings themselves can generate more sustainable energy. SolarBEAT is a joint initiative of TU/e and the Dutch research organisation TNO.

According to TU/e, the test site trials innovative solar panels – including vertically mounted ones –, smart facades, solar technology integrated into glass and solar thermal panels under realistic conditions.

The video also looks at how these technologies could contribute to more sustainable homes and buildings, and when they might appear on the streets. The report is part of the university's "Stay TU/ened" series.
