A 34-year-old man was attacked by three men at Berlin's Warschauer Strasse suburban rail station in the Friedrichshain district, Germany's federal police said in a report released on Tuesday. The assault happened at around 0:45 a.m. in the early hours of Sunday after the man had argued with a 36-year-old, police said.

The three suspects, aged 23, 28 and 29, allegedly punched and kicked him, including after he had fallen to the ground. The 28-year-old is suspected of striking him on the head with a beer bottle. Paramedics took the victim to hospital with injuries to his hands and face and a suspected broken nose.

The attackers initially fled. About an hour later, federal officers recognised them from surveillance footage at the same station and detained them. They are being investigated on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm and were released after police procedures were completed. They are presumed innocent.
