Danks stands in for ill Kompany as Bayern leave Kimmich, Neuer status open for Arsenal

Assistant coach Aaron Danks fronted Bayern Munich's news conference before Wednesday's game against Arsenal. Whether Kompany will be on the touchline is unclear, as is the availability of Kimmich and Neuer.

Aaron Danks led Bayern Munich's news conference on Tuesday in place of Vincent Kompany ahead of the Champions League game against Arsenal. The club said Kompany has a viral infection and needs rest. Danks said the coach remains in constant contact with the staff, but whether he will be at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night (2100 local time) will only be decided on match day.

Joshua Kimmich's availability is also uncertain. The midfielder missed the final training session for personal reasons, and Danks would not guarantee he will play. If Kimmich is out, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof could pair up in central midfield.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who missed the last two competitive games with a foot problem, is back in team training, but Danks said no decision has been made. Otherwise, Jonas Urbig would start again. Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise are both ruled out.
