Victoria's Secret showed its Fantasy Bra for the first time on 15 October, bringing a runway tradition back after an eight-year break. It was designed by jeweller Jacob & Co. According to the brand, the piece is made entirely of precious metal and stones. It draws on the house's Rare Touch line, in which diamonds are set across articulated, flexible structures. It uses diamonds in the house's proprietary Angel-Cut in various shapes and sizes; according to Fashion Times, some of them hang freely from the piece.
According to Fashion Times, the jeweller values the central diamond at 22 million dollars, around 16.6 million pounds. The brand has not given a total value for the finished bra. “I wanted to create the most expensive Fantasy Bra ever made, but value alone was never enough,” said founder Jacob Arabo. “For me, it had to be about the diamonds, the light, and the movement.” Adam Selman of Victoria's Secret said he could not think of a more perfect person to design it than Arabo. By comparison, the Red Hot Fantasy Bra presented by Gisele Bündchen in the 2000 catalogue was valued at 15 million dollars.
Victoria's Secret will only reveal during the show who wears the bra on Sunday at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. Claudia Schiffer wore the first Fantasy Bra in 1996 and Elsa Hosk the most recent one in 2018 – she also returns to the runway this year. The show starts on Sunday at 4:30 pm Pacific Time and streams on YouTube. A video of the Fantasy Bra can be watched on the official Victoria's Secret YouTube channel.
