The "No Kings" protest movement has announced more than 2,500 events for Saturday in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. Under the banner "No Kings: Vote Early Day of Action," participants plan to march together to polling places already open for early voting, with voter registration help, car pool sign-ups and information on becoming a poll observer also on offer. Election Day is Nov. 3.
Nearly 320 organizations, including Indivisible, are coordinating the day of action, organizers say. Previous "No Kings" days drew millions of people by organizers' count, including what they said were 8 million in March; those figures have not been independently verified. "No Kings One, Two, and Three were designed to send a message," said Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin, adding that the next step is action.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment from States Newsroom and referred it to the Republican National Committee. Ally Triolo, the RNC's election integrity communications director, said Republicans are "restoring the rule of law" and "protecting fair representation." About 5.1 million ballots had already been cast, the States Newsroom report said on Oct. 14, citing the University of Florida's Election Lab.
