Brandon Figueroa has lost his WBA featherweight title before the first bell. The American weighed 127.4lb on Friday and 126.8lb at his second attempt, against a limit of 126lb. According to The Ring, he was stripped of the title.
The fight with Japan's Tomoki Kameda (42-5) goes ahead in Las Vegas on Saturday regardless. Kameda made weight and can win the title; if Figueroa (27-2-1) wins, the belt stays vacant.
