Ubisoft is ending Rainbow Six Mobile. "We have made the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile," the development team announced on social media on 8 October. The game will remain available until 15 January 2027. The already planned next season will be released as scheduled, and the team said it would share more details about the wind-down in the coming weeks. According to Ubisoft, the team will move on to other long-term strategic projects.
The free tactical shooter was announced in 2022 as a mobile version of Rainbow Six Siege and used maps from its big brother. After test phases from 2023 and a launch in Latin America in 2025, it was released worldwide on 23 February 2026 – meaning the shutdown comes after just over seven months. According to Kotaku, it drew criticism for locking operators behind paywalls and for grindy progression, among other things.
In January 2026, Ubisoft had already closed the Canadian studio Ubisoft Halifax, which was working on Rainbow Six Mobile; 71 employees lost their jobs at the time. Shortly before, the staff had become the first at Ubisoft in North America to unionise; Ubisoft cited cost reductions as the reason for the closure. Rainbow Six Siege itself is not affected by the shutdown.
