The Sliven district prosecutor's office is challenging the release of a truck driver after the serious crash on the Trakia motorway. On 3 October, at kilometre 267 in the direction of Burgas, the truck – according to investigators in breach of traffic rules – ploughed into three cars stopped on the hard shoulder. One person died and two others were injured.

On 5 October, the Sliven district court set bail of 5,000 euros as a preventive measure. The driver is charged with causing death by negligence and moderate bodily harm to two people. He is presumed innocent. The Burgas Court of Appeal will hear the prosecutors' appeal on Monday. The report does not give the grounds for the appeal.
