Giant Drag, the LA indie rock project led by Annie Hardy, has released a new single, 'Song For My Funeral'. Hardy says she wrote it several years ago after reading a long, threatening direct message from a stalker. She had planned an orchestral version, but after several attempts settled on a spare solo-acoustic take.
Stereogum calls the track idiosyncratic, wordplay-heavy and surprisingly long. It will appear on an upcoming Giant Drag album produced by Joe Cardamone, formerly of The Icarus Line. No title or date has been announced yet.
The video is the official music video for 'Song For My Funeral': shot in black and white and directed by Joe Cardamone, it shows Hardy arm-wrestling several opponents, among them former MTV VJ Jesse Camp.
