From Monday, OpenAI's and Anthropic's AI services will be unavailable on work computers at Sweden's Government Offices, a move justified on information-security grounds.

Sweden's Government Offices (Regeringskansliet) are blocking the AI chatbots ChatGPT from OpenAI and Claude from Anthropic, public broadcaster Sveriges Radio reported. Starting Monday, staff will no longer be able to reach the services from their work computers, news agency TT said, citing internal information seen by the broadcaster.
Digitalisation director Mikael Wettercrantz wrote on the intranet that using AI services without an agreement could have consequences for information security, according to the reports. Employees are instead expected to use approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot. Some staff can still access ChatGPT and Claude through an in-house platform, the report said; the Government Offices had already restricted China's DeepSeek.
The Swedish Tax Agency and the National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) have introduced similar blocks, according to the broadcaster. The Swedish Enforcement Authority is still considering such a step.
