VfB Stuttgart will be without Josha Vagnoman for the time being. The club said Thursday that the Germany international strained a thigh muscle in the 1-1 Champions League draw against Atlético Madrid. The right back was substituted in the 52nd minute on Tuesday night and will miss Friday's Bundesliga home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, which kicks off at 8:30 p.m. local time. The club did not say how long he is expected to be out.
The absence hits Stuttgart in a key position. Vagnoman has played in all 11 competitive matches this season, nine of them as a starter, with two goals and three assists. Nikolas Nartey is also unavailable against Gladbach. The Danish player has renewed muscular problems after only recently returning to full team training and the matchday squad. He was on the bench against Atlético but did not play.
Besides Vagnoman and Nartey, Stuttgart will also be without Tiago Tomás, Justin Diehl and Dan-Axel Zagadou. The club did not say how long Nartey will be out this time or give a timeline for his return to training. Because of recurring muscle problems, the Dane has played just six minutes in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season. Friday's game against Gladbach opens the Bundesliga's seventh round.
