Welsh boxer Joe Cordina has been found not guilty of assault. Judge Charlotte Murphy at Cardiff Magistrates' Court concluded on Tuesday that Cordina believed he needed to defend himself and that his response was proportionate, and that the prosecution had not proved its case, Brit Brief reports. Cordina told the trial that a conviction could have cost him his boxing licence.

His counsel Nadeem Majid said Cordina hopes to appear on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury in Cardiff on December 11, according to Brit Brief. Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn had already backed the Cardiff-born fighter in September: "Give Joe Cordina his shot. It's a hell of a fight." Abdullah Mason had been mentioned as a possible opponent.

The Cardiff undercard has not yet been officially confirmed.
