OpenAI and Google Cloud on Wednesday announced a partnership to bring OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google's Model Garden. Customers will be able to buy the models through Google Cloud Marketplace and draw down existing Google spending commitments. OpenAI said general availability is planned "in the coming weeks," with the models later coming to Google's Antigravity development environment and the Gemini Agent.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman called it "an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building." Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the company is focused on offering a broad selection of models, "including those from OpenAI." OpenAI stressed that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner.

According to Reuters, hyperscalers are becoming the main commercial channel for frontier AI labs, typically taking a cut of sales on their platforms. The move stands out because Google, with its Gemini models, is one of OpenAI's most direct competitors.
