Inter Milan picked up their first Champions League points of the season. Cristian Chivu's side beat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 at San Siro on the third matchday of the league phase, after losing 2-1 at Real Madrid and 4-3 to Club Brugge. Carlos Augusto scored with his left foot in the 77th minute, set up by substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Inter were already a man down: Alessandro Bastoni received a second yellow card in the second half, first for protesting and then for shoving Shakhtar's Ocheretko at a corner. The win ended a run of four straight Champions League defeats; Inter's previous win in the competition was a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in January.

"Half the goal belongs to Mkhitaryan, for the goal I made the run of my life," Carlos Augusto said, according to Sportmediaset (translated from Italian).
