SC Freiburg visit AS Monaco on the second matchday of the Conference League. Kickoff at the Stade Louis II is at 9 p.m. CET, with RTL showing the game on free-to-air TV in Germany. Because of construction work the stadium holds only about 10,500 spectators, and the away section with 800 Freiburg fans is sold out, the club said.

Center back Philipp Lienhart did not travel for workload management reasons. Max Rosenfelder, who started the 3-2 win over FK Jablonec, is expected to replace him. Coach Julian Schuster hinted at further changes: "The conditions are there to possibly bring in fresh players." On Sunday Freiburg host Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Schuster said of the opponent: "This is a traditional club that has produced many well-known players, for example Thierry Henry and Kylian Mbappé." Monaco are fifth in Ligue 1, level on points with leaders Lyon, but lost 1-0 to Lorient at the weekend. They opened their Conference League campaign with a 2-1 win at CSKA Sofia. Freiburg lost 2-1 at Leverkusen at the weekend.
