Manchester City beat AEK Athens 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night. Elliot Anderson put the hosts ahead in the 12th minute with his first goal for the club and Phil Foden made it 2-0 in the 34th. Stavros Pilios pulled one back for AEK (52nd) before Rayan Cherki (57th) and Foden again (65th, 76th) settled it. Erling Haaland stayed on the bench.

It was Foden's fourth hat trick for City and his first in the Champions League. According to Sky Sports, the England midfielder has now scored in back-to-back games after a 10-month drought. Coach Enzo Maresca said: "I consider him one of the best English players." Foden said: "I'm going in the right direction."

After a 2-0 win in Porto and a 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, City have six points from three games. Sky Sports said it was their 10th win in 12 competitive matches this season.
