Hot Chip announce album „A Long Way From Kansas“ – live in Berlin in 2027

The British synth-pop band pays tribute to DJ Keith McIvor, who died in 2025, with the single „Random Violence“. They tour from February 2027, including a show at Berlin's Astra.

Hot Chip have announced a new studio album. A Long Way From Kansas comes out on Domino and can be pre-ordered in standard and deluxe editions from the band's website, VISIONS reports. It is their first studio record since Freakout/Release in 2022; in 2025 the band released the best-of collection Joy In Repetition. The album has eleven tracks, including guest appearances by Beth Ditto and Eddie Chacon.

Lead single Random Violence is a tribute to the band's longtime friend Keith McIvor, aka JD Twitch, who died in 2025. McIvor was a DJ, promoter and activist. Singer Joe Goddard says McIvor influenced most of the lyrics. In the video, dancers hold up protest signs in yellow and red, with costumes recalling the Halloween parties McIvor used to organise.

Hot Chip plan to take the new material on tour from February 2027. So far the only German show announced is on 26 February 2027 at the Astra in Berlin. The report names no dates in Austria or Switzerland, nor a ticket sale start. Other tracks on the album include Stuck Around, The Mask Is Slipping, Shortcut To Love and closer Crushing; Beth Ditto appears on Me In Your Head and Eddie Chacon on The Garden.
