Fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen hosts leader Freiburg on Sunday (1330 GMT), with three points separating the teams. Leverkusen has won four straight games in all competitions, while Freiburg is unbeaten in nine competitive matches. “It will be a tough game,” coach Carles Martínez said, according to dpa. Sporting director Simon Rolfes set the goal: “We have to try everything to knock Freiburg off the top.”
Martin Terrier was substituted after 18 minutes of the Europa League game in Poznań. “It will be very difficult for him to be in the squad on Sunday,” Martínez said. Christian Kofane is also injured. Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface are available up front.
Freiburg is without Yuito Suzuki, who was sent off with a second yellow card against Schalke. Coach Julian Schuster is optimistic about Scherhant and Beste: “I'm hopeful that both will be fit again on Sunday.”
