The search for the next James Bond appears to be entering its final round. According to matching reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, both citing unnamed sources, final screen tests are scheduled for this weekend, mostly in London. Jack Lowden ('Slow Horses'), Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor are named; at least one further candidate is unknown.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack O'Connell and Jacob Elordi will not be testing – other insiders had previously tipped Elordi as a strong contender. Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed any of the names.
Denis Villeneuve directs the first Bond film under Amazon's creative control, from a script by Steven Knight, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing. Pascal said in August that the end of the year was 'a good bet' for an announcement. Filming is due to begin in 2027, with a release in 2028 at the earliest.
