Ahead of Brazil's presidential runoff on 25 October, the race remains extremely close. Several polls released on Tuesday put Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of the Liberal Party slightly ahead of incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Workers' Party: Real Time Big Data has him at 52 to 48 percent of valid votes, Alfa Inteligência at 51.5 to 48.5 and Gerp at 53 to 47 percent. Pollster Data Ranking, by contrast, shows Lula narrowly ahead at 50.4 percent.

Monday's polls also show a tight race: AtlasIntel for Bloomberg puts Bolsonaro at 51.1 percent and Nexus for the bank BTG Pactual at 50.3 percent. According to a tally by The Rio Times, Bolsonaro leads in 23 of 26 runoff polls, averaging about 51 to 49 percent. Only Vox Brasil's two surveys and Data Ranking's show Lula ahead. Flávio Bolsonaro is the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
