From 2 November to 18 March, BDZ is changing services because of the rebuilding of the rail junction. Some trains to Burgas and Varna stay at Central Station.

From midnight on 2 November until 23:59 on 18 March 2027, tracks 1 to 11 at Sofia Central Station will be closed. The reason is the reconstruction of the rail junction around the station, state operator BDZ said. Trains on the Sofia–Petrich line will use dead-end tracks 2, 4 and 6, with track 6 also serving trains to Bankya and Dragoman. Trains to Plovdiv will use track 12 and those to Mezdra track 13. First changes, moving traffic onto a newly built track, had already been introduced at the end of May 2026.
Some long-distance trains will keep running directly from Central Station without a change, among them 3621 Sofia–Burgas, 8657 Sofia–Varna, 493 Sofia–Kapikule and 1620 Plovdiv–Sofia. All other trains will start or end at Poduyane passenger station and Iskar station, to which passengers will be transferred. BDZ advises travellers to check current timetables in its online guide and to plan journeys in advance. The restrictions will thus last around four and a half months.
