Thorsten Fink is no longer coach of Turkish Super Lig club Samsunspor. The club parted ways with the 58-year-old German on Monday after five consecutive defeats. The decisive blow was Saturday's 3-0 loss to Trabzonspor, which dropped Samsunspor into the relegation zone with only four points from seven matches. Trabzonspor are coached by Thomas Reis, Fink's predecessor at Samsunspor.
Fink took charge in February, in the second half of the 2025-26 season. He averaged 1.48 points over 25 competitive matches, with a run to the Conference League round of 16 his biggest success. The club said farewell on X, thanking him for his effort, responsibility and professionalism and signing off with "Danke, Thorsten!" ("Thank you, Thorsten!").
Fink was the third German coach in a row at Samsunspor after Markus Gisdol and Reis. As a player he won four German titles and the Champions League with Bayern Munich. His previous coaching jobs include FC Ingolstadt, FC Basel, Hamburger SV and Grasshopper Zurich.
