Nicolas Cage says he is not currently part of a third 'National Treasure' film. "I didn't sign up for that," he said at New York Comic Con, according to ComicBook.com, citing The Hollywood Reporter. He added: "You got to get these microphones out of these directors' hands." According to Film Stories, he left the door open, saying: "We'll see if I want to get together with it."

The remarks follow an announcement by director Jon Turteltaub, who said during a live recording of the 'National Treasure Hunt' podcast in August that the film would happen. According to ComicBook.com, a script exists, but Disney has not officially greenlit the project and none of the original cast has confirmed a return.

At the same appearance, Cage also criticized Amazon, which did not renew his series 'Spider-Noir' for a second season. He said he had not signed a waiver allowing the use of AI on the show and would probably not work with the studio again. The first two films about treasure hunter Ben Gates were released in 2004 and 2007.
