Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has passed one million copies sold worldwide, Bandai Namco announced on 9 October. No other entry in the series reached the milestone as quickly. The game launched in early access on 29 September and has been available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC since 2 October.
It is the first mainline entry in the series in seven years and was developed by Bandai Namco Aces. According to Bandai Namco, Ace Combat 8 is the second-highest-rated game in the series on review aggregators – just behind Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies from 2001. Alongside the story campaign, the new game offers the largest multiplayer component in the series so far, with cross-play, PvE and PvP modes and a virtual air base for up to 100 players.
