The Deutscher Jazzpreis (German Jazz Prize) will be awarded for the seventh time on 2 June 2027 – and for the first time in Leipzig, magazine Jazz thing reports. The prize is presented by Initiative Musik. According to reiseziele.ch, the ceremony will be held at Schauspiel Leipzig, the first time in Saxony.
There are 19 categories in total. In nine of them, musicians as well as labels, managements, journalists, broadcasters and festivals from Germany and abroad can submit entries until 30 November 2026. In the remaining categories, expert juries nominate four candidates each and the main jury picks the winners.
First-placed winners receive at least €10,000 and every nominee at least €1,000. The six previous editions awarded 159 prizes worth more than €2.6 million in prize and nomination money.
