Record in Germany's funeral trade: number of apprentices more than doubles since 2015
According to Germany's statistics office, around 900 young people trained as funeral directors last year, the highest number on record.

A growing number of young people in Germany are training to become funeral directors. According to the Federal Statistical Office, the number of apprentices in the funeral trade has more than doubled since 2015, reaching a record of around 900 last year.
As for the sector as a whole, in 2024, around 32,000 people worked at some 4,200 funeral businesses, the data showed.
