At Shanghai Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2027, business away from the runway moved further into focus. According to the organisers, visitors to eight commercial districts linked to the event spent 2.746 billion yuan on shopping and dining, up 21.1 percent year on year. Spending linked to core participants and their activities was estimated at 560 million yuan.
At the five-day MODE Shanghai trade show, more than half of the exhibitors came from abroad, including South Korea, France, Italy and the US. Attendance rose by around 16 percent compared with the Autumn/Winter season. The French menswear federation PROMAS brought five labels to Shanghai, among them Egonlab and Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Buyers included Galeries Lafayette, Antonioli and the New York store 3NY.
Sportswear brands also used the week: Adidas staged its roughly 6,000-square-metre 'Future of Three' project, and Y-3 held its first independent collection presentation in China. At the Dongtaili site, the accompanying Shanghai Fashion Weekend drew more than 100,000 visitors from 16 to 19 October; the programme of 70 brands runs until 25 October.
