Victoria's Secret CEO Hillary Super has discussed the brand's overhaul on NBC's TODAY show. In her conversation with anchor Savannah Sellers, aired on October 17, she said of the social media comments: “I read them every single night before I go to bed.” Super describes putting the customer first as a guiding principle. The casting series “Angels Among Us” also grew out of ideas from the comments, she said. According to the industry newsletter The Publish Press, the series drew more than 100,000 applicants and almost 19 million views across six episodes.
The numbers for the October 18 show back the YouTube strategy: according to Streams Charts, all livestreams combined peaked at 3.64 million concurrent viewers, nearly 33 percent more than last year. The brand's official channel alone reached 3.14 million, and 4.8 million hours were watched in total. On the stock market, the shares closed 3.02 percent higher on the Monday after the show, Inside Retail reported. The company has raised its full-year sales forecast to $7.10 billion to $7.18 billion.
Neil Saunders of GlobalData sees the brand as “firmly in recovery and building mode.” Other observers caution that attention alone does not secure lasting sales, for instance if fit and size range fall short. According to Business Chief, Super also addressed the brand's past ties to Les Wexner and Jeffrey Epstein, saying it is important to know that history in order to understand how much the company has changed. Castings and fittings now follow monitored protocols. The short NBC clip shows Super talking about her recent obsessions.
