Stefan Reuter celebrated his 60th birthday on 16 October. The Franconian won 69 caps for Germany, scoring twice. He was part of the World Cup-winning team in Italy in 1990 and became European champion in England in 1996. Back in 1984 he had won the European U16 title under Berti Vogts.

At club level Reuter played for 1. FC Nürnberg, Bayern Munich, Juventus and, from 1992 to 2004, Borussia Dortmund. With Dortmund he won the Bundesliga in 1995, 1996 and 2002 as well as the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup in 1997. According to the DFB, he calls the 1997 triumph the absolute high point of his career as a club player. He never played in a DFB-Pokal final.

In total Reuter made 502 Bundesliga appearances. After his playing career he worked for 1860 Munich, among others, and spent 13 years as sporting director and adviser at FC Augsburg; today he advises clubs through his own agency.
