NikeSKIMS, the joint line from Nike and Skims, is releasing outerwear for the first time. According to Nike's announcement of October 19, it comes in two groups: sherpa pieces – a vest, a half-zip jacket and a hooded jacket – in high-pile Therma-FIT material with a brushed interior and recycled nylon contrast panels. They are joined by Crunchy Nylon, a water-repellent fabric with a textured face, made into a cropped jacket, a hooded parka, shorts and wide-leg pants. The collection launches globally on October 22.
The new seasonal colour is University Red, which runs through several existing franchises as well as footwear and accessories. On the intimates side, the Matte line adds new body-contouring bras and Stretch Knit adds seamless styles made from single-layer yarn. The campaign features the University of Alabama cheer team, part of Nike's three-decade partnership with the university. According to Maxim, the team are the reigning UCA Division 1A champions.
Kim Kardashian, co-founder and chief creative officer of Skims, said: “With NikeSKIMS, we want women to feel confident and put together, and this collection takes that even further.” She said she was especially excited about the red colourway. Nike notes that the launch follows the line's expansion into China. The collection is distributed through the Nike and Skims websites, followed by select stores and partner retailers.
